We are recruiting for a SEMH Learning Support Assistant role in the Bromley Area immediate start full time

Job Title: SEMH Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

Location: London Borough of Bromley
Salary: £85 - £95 per day PAYE
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 4:00 pm

About the Role
As an SEMH LSA, you’ll provide essential one-to-one and small-group support to students with SEMH needs, creating a safe and engaging learning environment. You’ll work alongside class teachers, the SENCO, and other professionals to help students access the curriculum, develop positive behaviors, and build resilience and social skills.

Key Responsibilities of a SEMH LSA

  • Deliver tailored support for students with SEMH needs, adapting resources and activities to meet individual requirements.
  • Assist in implementing personalized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Use positive reinforcement techniques to support students in developing self-regulation and coping skills.
  • Promote social, emotional, and behavioral development through structured activities and positive interactions.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalate challenging behaviors, maintaining a calm and supportive presence.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure consistent, holistic support.
  • Record and monitor student progress, reporting back to the class teacher and SENCO to adjust interventions as needed.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where students feel valued and supported.

Candidate Requirements for a SEMH LSA

  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs, behavioral challenges, or in alternative education settings.
  • A patient, empathetic approach, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of SEMH support strategies, including behavior management and de-escalation techniques.
  • Relevant qualifications in SEMH support, childcare, or education are an advantage.
  • A proactive, resilient, and compassionate attitude, with a genuine desire to support young people’s well-being.
