SEN Teaching Assistant needed for Supporting Students with Diverse Needs for a School in Orpington

Are you dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children and young people with special educational needs? We are looking for a compassionate and flexible SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a specialist school in Orpington. In this role, you will be working with students who have a range of needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autism (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, behavioral needs, and some wheelchair users.

Location: Orpington
School Type: Specialist SEN School
Start Date: Immediate
Role : Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4pm short and long term roles
Salary : £85 to £95 per day PAYE

Role Overview:

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with a variety of learning needs, including PMLD, SLD, ASD, SEMH, and behavioural challenges.
• Assist with personal care and mobility needs for students, including those who use wheelchairs.
• Support students in managing challenging behaviors using appropriate strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
• Help create a positive, engaging, and safe learning environment.

What We’re Looking For:

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (preferred but not essential – full training provided).
• A patient, caring, and flexible approach to supporting students with complex needs.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
• Willingness to assist with personal care and physical support where necessary.
