As a SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and other support staff to provide targeted assistance to students, ensuring their academic and personal development. You will be instrumental in promoting communication skills, social interaction, and emotional regulation, helping each child to build confidence and independence.

Job Title: SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
Location: Croydon
Monday to Friday - 8:30 to 3:30
Salary: £85 to £90 per day

SEN Learning Support Assistant Role :

As a SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and other support staff to provide targeted assistance to students, ensuring their academic and personal development. You will be instrumental in promoting communication skills, social interaction, and emotional regulation, helping each child to build confidence and independence.

Key Responsibilities Of a Learning Support Assistant

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with autism and speech and language difficulties.
  • Assist in the implementation of individualized learning plans and behavior support strategies.
  • Foster a safe and supportive classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver a holistic educational experience.
  • Use a range of communication methods and resources, such as visual aids and sensory tools, to support student engagement.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the SENCO and other staff members.

LSA Requirements

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly autism and speech and language challenges.
  • Knowledge of communication strategies, such as Makaton, PECS, or other alternative communication methods, is desirable.
  • A patient, compassionate, and resilient individual with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to adapt to different learning needs and create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Relevant qualifications in SEN support or childcare are an advantage but not essential.
